Sit happens. And MUSEws is here for it.

Yep, you read that right. July 4th has come and gone, but we’re still honoring 250 years of American independence! Our Semiquincentennial Strolls have been a big hit, but we also know that a 2 mile walk isn't for everyone. Problem solved! On Monday, September 14th at 5:00pm, we’re debuting the “Semiquincentennial SIT.” It’s a lot like our SemiQ Stroll—covering 250 years of history by exploring the landscape around MUSEws—but without the long walk. Instead, we’ll pull up chairs just outside MUSEws front doors, where you still get some wonderful views; and with the help of historical photography and MUSEws executive director as your virtual tour guide, we’ll track the Twin City’s fascinating journey from colonial times through today. As we “make our way” (so to speak) through MUSEws’ neighborhood of bridges & railbeds, retired farms & factories, monuments & graveyards, and panoramic overlooks into the city’s past & future, the tour will highlight turning points in the Camel City story, fascinating figures (both famous and forgotten), and maybe even inspire dreams for the next 250 years! At tour’s end, we’ll finish just like the SemiQ Strollers do, moving into the museum’s Mosaic Room for an exclusive ‘first look’ at our gorgeous mosaic glass mural (formerly housed at Smith Reynolds Airport, newly relocated and illuminated at MUSEws). For the cost of registration, participants experience the “SemiQ Sit,” and receive a souvenir water bottle, along with beverages and light snacks (plus all the new knowledge is yours forever!).

For ease of outdoors listening, participants will each receive an individual headset. Registrants will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to the event. Whether you’re a local or a newcomer, the “Semiquincentennial Sit” is for you!

**Participants are encouraged to bring their own favorite camp/lawn chairs for fullest comfort, though MUSEws will have standard folding chairs on hand as well.
